truly madly deeply
For when you and your creativity find yourselves in a failed relationship
You know the one… the one you can’t let go of? The ‘toxic lover’?
Here’s a little quiz:
Do you avoid the studio?
Never go to class?
Made no progress on the book?
Hate going to performances?
That thing you once lived for - has it become a source of quiet shame, avoidance, anger, boredom–even physical pain?
Have you confused the very real-world challenges that come with being a person in the arts (or helping professions, since so many artists do both) as personal failures?
Things like (quiz #2!)
Body shame – the belly that just won’t get flat. The waist that keeps growing. The thighs that 10-20-30 years ago your ballet teacher told you to ‘slim down’. Boobs that are too… whatever they are
Financial shame - the 401k too often raided to pay for a residency, a show, injury rehab
Relationship shame - being single when most of your friends are married or partnered; not having kids; having kids and trying to continue making work and feeling overwhelmed
Aging shame - what happened to being effortlessly hip, cool and fearless?
Multiple careers shame - how to answer the ‘and what do you do’ cocktail question without feeling like an idiot, a failure or an apologist for your life and every choice you ever made
Real estate shame - never bought, scared of the rental market, the neighborhood has become a place you don’t recognize
Decades in, trusting your own creative impulses can feel–really problematic.
From age 4 I knew exactly what I was going to do.
How old were you?
For me, it was dance, specifically Ballet! For you, maybe it was painting, writing, singing, building things—something that felt as natural as hanging out with your best friend.
I danced whether anyone else thought that was a good idea. (Many didn’t.) I went to New York. I taught. I choreographed. I performed. I moved to Europe. For 35+ years, I lived the dream that started the day my mother gave me Suzy and the Red Tutu for my birthday.
And then I stopped dreaming. I didn’t want to spend my life in studios. I wanted to be out and about in the rest of the world. I wanted to be financially secure. I wanted to rest. I wanted friends who had time to get an afternoon coffee, I wanted an afternoon coffee! On weekdays! And I really didn’t want to keep working jobs just for the money.
I wanted to be a whole person EVERYWHERE in my life.
It was liberating, and it felt like a kind of death.
But I was so tired, I didn’t have the energy to grieve. Have you ever had to deal with something soo big that instead of processing it, you just shut off and get on with day to day practicalities?
We all do it. We have to. And it is the perfect recipe for a big emotional mess that will someday, inevitably, dump itself right at your front door.
I have been dealing with my emotional debris for the last 10 years.
What if you could have some help sorting out yours?
What if you let go of:
Those dances you didn’t choreograph.
The paintings you never finished.
The auditions you failed.
Feeling exhausted just at the thought of picking up your music.
The award you always thought would be yours and isn’t.
Hating your lucrative career because you aren’t making a "real" living from your art.
What if you could wake up and feel light again?
What if
you had the energy to actually do what you’ve been avoiding?

What would your life look like if you could:
Work steadily and productively on the things you know you want to accomplish, including making a substantial living?
Get back to making the art you used to love?
Stop being irritated way too much, too often, by everyone and everything?
Call your friend rather than re-reading that escapist fantasy you’ve already read 10 times?
Wouldn’t that be AMAZING?
This is where you start
truly, madly, deeply
is a 6 week group program designed to help you identify what’s in your way, make friends with it, digest it, and release what is no longer serving you.

We’ll use:
The Emotion Code – a modality that allows for quickly identifying and releasing stuck emotions and negative beliefs;
Guided meditations - to hear what your body is trying to tell you
Timed writing - to get your subconscious thoughts, feelings and associations out of your head so you can see, feel and understand them
Facilitated group discussion - because this process is so much easier when you are not alone
Each week, we’ll focus on an aspect of your Body, Mind, or Spirit—so by the end, you’ll have less emotional weight dragging you down, more mental clarity, and a stronger connection to the part of you that knows what you want.
Because you do already know
There is information your body is aching (often literally) to tell you: dreams and desires your inner self has been keeping safe while you go on doing the things you thought you had to.
Wouldn’t it be great to hear what all these fantastically intelligent parts of you have to say?
So that you can get on with moving forward with WHATEVER it is you’ve been frustrating yourself by avoiding?
Like, maybe:
Getting a grip on why you avoid sending out invoices
Stop berating yourself for not doing your physical therapy perfectly and start actually doing something daily
Write a new substack after 6 months of not
Or whatever your particular bete noir might be….
Interested in trusting yourself to actually DO THE THING? Like you used to? Or maybe even better?
I’d love to have you!
